01 / PUBLISHER
Publisher and political independence
Road to 326 is intended to provide non-partisan civic information and editorial analysis. It is not published by or on behalf of any political party, candidate, government department, parliament, pollster, news publisher or the Electoral Commission.
The site is not intended to promote or oppose the electoral success of a party or candidate. Party colours, names, marks and policy links are used only to identify and compare political organisations and their public positions.
This editorial site is not itself a statutory digital imprint. Paid political material generally needs an imprint. Unpaid election material may also need one when it is published by or on behalf of a candidate, party, registered campaigner or another organisation covered by the rules, subject to the statutory exemptions. If Road to 326's publisher, funding or purpose changes, the promoter must reassess the material and add any required imprint before publication.
02 / LIMITATIONS
How to use the numbers
Polls and averages
Opinion polls estimate views among a sample at a particular time. They are affected by sampling error, weighting, turnout assumptions, question wording, fieldwork mode and later opinion change. The seven-poll average is a Road to 326 calculation and does not remove these uncertainties.
Seat estimates and maps
The seat projection applies national polling change across Great Britain constituencies. It does not fully model local candidates, tactical voting, demographic change, constituency polling or campaign effects. Northern Ireland is treated separately. It is a simple scenario, not an MRP model, official forecast, result or guarantee.
Comparisons and markets
Third-party forecasts use different dates and methods. Prediction-market prices reflect traders, liquidity and contract wording. They are not polls, reliable probabilities or financial advice. Check the linked provider for current figures before relying on any comparison.
News signals and by-elections
Impact scores, surprise labels, summaries and trend notes are Road to 326 editorial judgements. They are not poll findings, official classifications, endorsements or claims about a person's character. Linked publishers retain responsibility for their original reporting.
03 / COMPASS
What Compass results mean
Compass is an educational self-reflection tool. Its questions, axis weights, party reference points and similarity formula involve editorial judgement. A score cannot define a person's politics, tell them how to vote, assess tactical choices or account for every policy.
Party profiles are estimates based mainly on 2024 general-election manifestos. They do not measure later policy changes, delivery, leadership, candidate quality or every internal party view. A high similarity score is not an endorsement by Road to 326 or by the party.
Answers and results exist only in the current browser tab while the tool is open. They are not saved to local storage, sent to Road to 326, included in PostHog analytics or used for profiling or political advertising. Closing or reloading the tab clears them. Avoid sharing screenshots if you do not want others to see your result.
04 / EDITORIAL
Standards and corrections
- Facts, third-party figures and Road to 326 estimates should be clearly separated.
- Sources and relevant dates should appear beside material claims wherever practical.
- Headlines and summaries should not imply certainty that the underlying source does not support.
- Political parties should be assessed by a consistent method, with no paid ranking or hidden endorsement.
- Material errors should be corrected promptly and source data should be updated when reliable revisions appear.
External source links are provided for verification. A link does not mean Road to 326 controls, endorses or guarantees that external site. External availability, security and privacy practices can change without notice.
05 / PRIVACY
Privacy notice
Road to 326 does not offer accounts, comments, mailing lists, contact forms or payments. It does not ask for a name, email address, postcode or voting history. The Compass does not transmit answers. The UK election predictor keeps editable inputs in the open browser tab and creates no forecast record; choosing Share creates a URL containing the selected vote-share numbers.
Controller
Road to 326 determines why and how the limited technical and optional analytics data described below is processed and is the controller for that processing. The public publisher's legal name and a direct privacy-contact route must be added here before this notice can be treated as complete.
Information processed to deliver the site
Cloudflare provides hosting and security infrastructure and necessarily receives technical request data such as IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, timestamps and security signals. This is used to deliver pages, prevent abuse, diagnose failures and protect the service. The lawful basis is the legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable website.
Basic cookieless audience measurement
Road to 326 uses PostHog's EU service to count pageviews in cookieless mode before a visitor makes a choice and when enhanced analytics is declined. It does not store a PostHog identifier in cookies, local storage or session storage, create a person profile, run interaction autocapture or record the screen. PostHog creates a short-lived daily audience hash on its servers from the IP address, user agent and hostname, then discards the salt used to create it. This cannot recognise the same visitor across different days. Road to 326 relies on its legitimate interest in understanding aggregate site traffic for this limited processing.
Optional enhanced analytics
If you accept enhanced analytics, Road to 326 also records interaction events and masked session replays. Input values are masked in recordings, and the Compass answer and result surfaces and the election-predictor tool are blocked from autocapture and session recording. The site does not identify visitors, so PostHog person profiles are not created. The purpose is to improve usability. The lawful basis is consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the always-available Enhanced analytics button.
Processors, transfers and retention
Cloudflare processes hosting and security data, and PostHog processes cookieless audience measurement and consented enhanced analytics, only to provide those services. Road to 326 does not sell personal data or use it for political targeting. Cloudflare operates global infrastructure and may process technical request and security data outside the UK under the safeguards described in its privacy and cross-border data-transfer terms. PostHog events are sent to its EU service.
The enhanced-analytics preference remains in the browser until it is changed or browser data is cleared. PostHog events follow the project's retention setting and are reviewed so they are not kept longer than needed for aggregate traffic and usability analysis. Cloudflare request and security logs follow its operational retention schedule. Road to 326 does not copy those logs into a separate visitor database.
Automated decisions
The site does not make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects. Compass and predictor outputs are user-directed educational calculations, not eligibility, profiling or voting decisions.
Data may be disclosed where required by law, to investigate abuse or to protect legal rights. External websites receive information under their own privacy policies when you follow a link to them.
07 / RIGHTS
Your information rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data; object to processing; withdraw consent; and receive certain data in a portable form. Because Road to 326 does not create accounts or ask for direct identifiers, it may not be possible to connect an anonymous pageview with a particular visitor without additional information.
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Selecting Pageviews only disables enhanced analytics, and you can withdraw enhanced-analytics consent immediately through the Enhanced analytics control. A verified publisher contact must be added to this notice before publication so other rights requests have a direct route.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office ↗. Withdrawing analytics consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
08 / SITE USE
Reasonable use and liability
You may view and link to public pages for lawful purposes. Do not misuse the site, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with service operation, misrepresent Road to 326 content as official or remove source attribution when republishing material.
Road to 326 content is provided free of charge on an as-is and as-available basis. Reasonable care is taken, but accuracy, completeness, timeliness and uninterrupted availability are not guaranteed. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Road to 326 is not responsible for losses caused by reliance on site estimates, editorial judgements, third-party material or unavailable services. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Source publishers retain rights in their original material, names and marks. Road to 326 retains rights in its original text, design, calculations and editorial analysis. Polling and election data reused from UK Election Data Vault is attributed and is made available by that project for reuse.
09 / DATA RIGHTS
Reuse only where a clear basis exists
Road to 326 uses bulk polling and 2024 constituency-result data from the UK Election Data Vault, whose publisher states that its data is free to use for commercial or any other purpose. Later poll entries contain factual headline figures and link to the pollster's own release; no questionnaire, report text, branding asset or proprietary database is republished.
External forecast publishers retain all rights in their models, datasets, tables, charts and presentation. For comparison, Road to 326 reproduces only limited headline facts with the publisher, date and source link clearly identified. It does not copy full constituency tables, downloadable datasets, charts or publisher presentation without permission.

Charts and calculations containing YouGov data remain subject to those licence terms for the YouGov-derived element; Road to 326's copyright claim does not override them.
